Writing

I write and write, and deliver something like this:

  • Public reports. It is a rewarding task to carry out a planning process or an investigation, and produce a result with readable language. I believe that emphasis should be placed on good dissemination in such texts as well, because it is a good democratic principle that citizens should understand the public documents that come to them.

  • Fast proofreading services. I am proficient with the red pencil, and have experience with this in both book work and the completion of other texts. The last major book project I handled in this way was Gaffelriggen - Sailing and handling , and I am working on it as editor of the yearbook Hardanger.

  • Subtleties. Humor and seriousness go hand in hand, something my book project Gallows humor will explore. This is also true in articles I have written in the newspaper Hordaland. In the catalog of the vice duo Markhus&Lid, the text material is both mournful and burlesque, and I also like to write for others.

History

History is a common denominator in what I do. It is a desirable situation to be able to take on a topic and process it into something interesting to read or listen to. I take on writing work, but also hold lectures or lectures. In all the professional work I do, I am preoccupied with:

  • Clear and good language. In the subject of history, there is a strong tradition of using language that resonates widely and captivates many. This is what I emphasize on achieving in all projects.

  • Storytelling joy. My Norwegian teacher at secondary school noticed that I wrote in styles with a visible joy of storytelling. And I have tried to continue with this, also when I write academic material, in fact even in municipal case papers and county municipal plans.

  • Precision. If you want to hit the target, you have to be accurate. This applies in the subject of history, and other contexts. I have experience that success often comes after processes that are carried out with great precision .

  • Zero tolerance for loitering. In the subject of history, things can go dramatically wrong if you take unfortunate shortcuts and allow sloppiness and sloppiness. As a golden rule, I oppose this in all professional contexts.

  • Boiler use. This has been instilled through the history education, and many years of experience from various professional work. Keeping the sources in order is becoming more and more important as digital development continues.

Counseling

Professional Expertise, Leadership Experience, and a Listening and Open Attitude. These are the tools I bring with me to provide clear advice and confident guidance. Here are the key areas where I can step in to help or take charge:

  • Development Projects in the Cultural Sector This is one of my strongest areas. I played a central role in the establishment of Kunsthuset Kabuso, executed major development projects as the director of the Norwegian Museum of Hydropower and Industry, and led many smaller projects in various contexts. I can take on different roles, such as project manager or a more cautiously affiliated consultant.

  • Public Planning On three occasions, Hordaland/Vestland County Municipality brought me in to help lead planning processes and draft documents: "Museums in Society" (2011-15), "PREMISS: CULTURE" (2015-25), and "Culture Builds Society" (2023-35). As the cultural director in Kvam Municipality, I was involved in municipal sector planning. This experience provides me with substantial expertise and knowledge to contribute to new planning processes.

  • Museums I have held leadership positions in several museums and other roles related to dissemination and project execution. My certification as a conservator NMF confirms my solid scientific grounding in museum work. With my broad experience in the museum sector, I can provide advisory services across a range of central museum disciplines.

  • Cultural Heritage and Cultural Environment I can undertake work on cultural heritage plans and assessments within the broader cultural environment field, all based on extensive experience with such processes. I have worked closely with the Directorate for Cultural Heritage and was part of Hordaland County Municipality's project group for "Cultural Heritage Plans in Municipalities."

  • Publications I have editorial experience with both newspapers and journals, notably as the long-time editor of the Hardanger yearbook. Leading the creation of a publication or acting as an advisor along the way is a familiar and cherished role for me.

  • Value Creation and Sustainability As a cultural leader, working with value creation is inherent in the role, and I have increasingly linked this with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. When ICOM Norway was developing a new version of the museum ethical guidelines, I was part of the expert group on sustainability.
